Truck Driver Uses Cheetah Software to Track Manhattan Criminal in 'Real-Time' and Foil Crime

(Westlake Village, CA) - October, 2006 After becoming the victim of a truck break-in in midtown Manhattan, a driver from the Plycon Transportation Group decided to take matters into his own hands when police were unable to find the perpetrator. With his wallet and phone stolen, the driver called in to the company dispatcher to see what could be done. The answer was a bit of a surprise: Why not use a satellite that connects to the software in the driver's phone to track the criminal's every move, in real-time.

While this may seem a bit like something out of a Hollywood movie, it was made possible by having Cheetah Tracks Software installed on the driver's phone. As a result, dispatcher was able to track the phone and its carrier (the thief) through the subway system and locate its (and his) exact location.

The chase lasted over an hour and the Plycon driver took off on foot. Because Cheetah's Tracks software was set to update every three seconds, the location was easy to find, but the target kept on moving. Eventually the driver caught up to the thief, carrying his wallet and phone in a paper bag.
